About LimkaKit
LimkaKit is a set of free tools for people who make and share media online: creators, editors, designers, and anyone who has ever fought a video or image that would not upload, play, or fit. It is a small, focused toolkit rather than a sprawling suite. Today that is twenty-three tools: video and image metadata checkers, a video compressor, a video converter, an MP4 to MP3 converter, audio converters connecting MP3, M4A, and WAV in every direction, a compatibility checker, a bitrate calculator, an aspect ratio calculator, a HEIC converter for JPG, PNG, and PDF, converters for PNG, AVIF, and WebP images to JPG or PNG, a JPG to PDF converter, and image tools for compressing and resizing photos.
The tools are built on one principle: your files belong to you. Most of them run entirely in your browser, so your media never leaves your device and there is nothing to upload, queue, or wait for. The few heavy jobs (video compression and conversion, which genuinely need a fast encoder) use a private server with a signed, expiring link, and both the input and output are deleted afterwards. You can tell which path a tool uses before you run it, and every page states it plainly.
Nothing here requires an account, there are no watermarks, and there is no paywall. The tools are free and intended to stay free. There is no trick where a tool quietly degrades once you stop paying, because there is no payment at all.
Honesty is a working rule, not a slogan. When a compressor cannot save you anything, it says so instead of showing a confident percentage. When a compatibility check cannot verify a value, it says "couldn't verify" rather than guessing. When an estimate is a range and not a promise, that is made explicit. Made for independence: files belong to you, and so do the numbers.
The site is under active, careful development. New tools and fixes ship regularly, and the roadmap is guided by what creators actually ask for, so if something is missing or awkward, tell us. See the contact page for how to reach the team.
