What is HEIC, and why does nobody accept it?
HEIC is the format iPhones use to save space. It is efficient, but Windows, older Androids, and many websites still will not open it. JPG is the safe choice that works everywhere.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

Will the quality drop?

Does the JPG keep the original photo's metadata?
No. The converted JPG comes out clean, without the original's EXIF data. That is a side effect of how browser-based conversion works, and for most people it is the outcome they wanted anyway. If you need the metadata preserved, this is not the tool for the job.
